NEO(N) CONCRETE POETRY
is a series of seven neon artworks derived from the couple’s first literary production, Never Sent Letters — an anthology of poems written by Ana and illustrated by Piu, launched earlier this year. Driven by the impulse to materialize poetry, the couple offers an urgent and timely perspective on the paradoxical relation between the generational wave of narcissism, and its effects on our emotionally complex human nature.
Lyra Ambdos is the name of a constellation formed by multidisciplinary artist Ana Lucia Souza (São Paulo, Brazil, 1982) and art director Piu Afonseca (São Paulo, Brazil, 1978). The constellation of Lyra is home to Vega, the brightest star in the northern hemisphere (and Ana’s favorite heavenly body), and Ambdos – common of two, in Catalan – alludes to Piu’s Spanish ancestors.
